On June, 12 The European Business Association jointly with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Turkish Enterprise and Business Confederation (TURKONFED) held a meeting with the Turkey-Ukraine Trade and Investment Mission.
The topic of the meeting ‘Doing business in the Ukrainian market – opportunities and challenges’ brought together Turkish traders and investors, Ukrainian sellers and buyers of food/agricultural products, machinery and vehicles and the authorities’ representatives both from Ukraine and Turkey.
Among the speakers were:
Anna Derevyanko, Executive Director, European Business Association;
Mykola Steblynskiy, First Deputy of the State Agency for Investment and National Projects of Ukraine;
Oleh Shevchuk, Vice President, Federation of Employers of Ukraine;
Elena Popova, Deputy Country Director, UNDP Ukraine;
Mehmet Samsar, Ambassador, Embassy of Turkey to Ukraine;
Mehmet Ali Erkan, Chief Trade Counselor, Embassy of Turkey to Ukraine.
During the meeting questions on investment and trade between the two countries were discussed. Accordingly, a positive trend was mentioned according to the trade turnover of goods and services between Ukraine and Turkey, as this figure grew by 8.3%, reaching 6.15 billion dollars last year.
As for the final part of the meeting, Sezai Parlak, President of SEP&Seranit UA and Emre Erverdi, General Manager of Miroplast, who have more than 15 years of experience in business development, shared their story of success and gave practical pieces of advice.
Furthermore, it is important to note that both countries have continuous expectations for developing trade relations as the respective governments have started negotiations for a free trade agreement.
